IN CELEBRATION OF SLAM’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY, BRISTOL STUDIO REVISITS WHAT THE MAGAZINE MEANT TO THEM AS KIDS GROWING UP IN THE EARLY 2000s.
Growing up in the early 2000s, SLAM Magazine covers lined our bedroom walls.
It was the only publication covering the intersection of basketball, hip-hop, style and the culture surrounding it.
Through the pages of SLAM, it became clear that fashion was more than just scraps of fabric draped on bodies — it was a vehicle for identity.
We are grateful to have our own spread in the magazine and to have designed a capsule collection that represents what SLAM means to us.
We chose our good friend, London Perrantes, to model the collection and we shot it outside the Boys & Girls Club where we all met playing basketball.
London went on to become the winningest player in the University of Virginia’s history. Leading his teams to multiple #1 ranked seasons and the Elite Eight. He was a member of the 2017-2018 Cleveland Cavaliers and continues to play professionally.
